We are now making the steel legs for our little creatures. First things first, we consulted with Martin in the metal shop. We discussed where we would weld and how we would weld, eventually determining two key things:

1. We need to build a jig. 

2. We can puddle weld the legs to the steel plate in order to avoid having a messy connection at the plate.

We have a few concerns about the jig catching on fire if it’s made of plywood so we may have to fabricate it from steel in a different way than shown here. more to come…
